ABSTRACT

In recent years, Gyropress method (Self-Walking Rotary Press-in Method for Tubular Piles with Tip Bit) has become popular as one of the methods for installation of piles. In the previous Japanese railway design standard, the limit state design method have been used. However, in 2012, it was revised to adopt the concept of the performance-based design method. In this paper, the authors propose a design vertical bearing capacity estimation formula and a partial resistance factor for Gyropress method based on the concept of the performance-based design method.
