ABSTRACT

Currently, researchers and specialists were faced with procedures for upholding and lengthening the optimal performance of various energy storage devices. This chapter studies the effects of graphene oxide (GO) addition in electrodes of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) to reduce capacity fade, resistance, breakdown and poor performance while GO addition is targeted to achieve optimum usage of LIBs in various gadgets. These optimal performances include their rate as regards specific capacitance, energy and power densities, life span, lightweight, etc. World energy catastrophe heightened scientists’ attention on how to improve the working situation of LIBs devices for the betterment of humanity. Various carbon derivatives such as GO, rGO, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), etc., possess desirable qualities that improve the performance of energy storage devices. This work studied LIBs and the effects of GO addition towards improvement in their storage capacity, stability and durability.
