ABSTRACT

Recently, internet of vehicles has become an active field for researchers because it allows efficient and reliable wireless communication between vehicles to everything, which has motivated many researchers to develop communication paradigms that meet emerging vehicle requirements in smart cities. Dedicated Short Range Communication-based approaches and cellular technologies-based approaches such as 5G are the most promising technologies for vehicular communications. In order to provide efficient data transmission, seamless and integrated communication between vehicles to everything, this contribution proposes a reliable data forwarding technique for the Internet of Vehicles called DFS-IoV. Our technique is based on 5G Cellular-Vehicles connecting to everything. An extensive evaluation is conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed technique under various network conditions in urban scenarios. The results of simulation show that the suggested technique ensures increased throughput, enhances the packet delivery ratio and guarantees reliability in comparison to the already existing techniques.
