ABSTRACT

In this chapter, different methods of generating and distributing reports are described. The content and frequency of the report generation process is described, outlining the core components of scheduling, automatic report creation, and delivery. In this chapter, PDF report generation was performed as a result of calling a PHP page in a web browser. For cron utilities to work correctly, the operating system where they are hosted must have a constant up-time. The chapter describes the process of taking the solutions developed in this book and hosting them on the Amazon Lightsail. To provide a synchronous approach to reporting, cron and task scheduling were described for both local and external cron sources. As managing e-mail delivery has become a full-time job, the basics of cloud-based e-mail services were described as an alternative solution to in-house e-mail hosting.
