ABSTRACT

In this chapter, starch-assisted synthesis of N-substituted pyrroles using 2,5-hexadione with amines or diamines at room temperature without the solvent is reported. The experiment procedure results in simple operation, easy workup due to the usage of short-column chromatography and high yields (65–95%). Also, amines bring withdrawing electron groups afforded N-substituted pyrroles with fair yields versus that in previously reported works. Also, the source of starch used in this method is wheat.
