ABSTRACT

In most cases, complex objects of interest for Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography imaging can be modeled as just the superposition of ellipsoids with constant density or activity concentration. One of the most common problems faced when working in the image reconstruction field is to find the intersection between the image matrix and a ray connecting two physical points. In Didactic tomogrAPHic recoNstruction framEwork, Siddon’s algorithm is used both to generate a set of simulated projections and to evaluate on the fly system matrix for the iterative reconstruction. Siddon’s algorithm allows to evaluate, at the same time, all the voxels intersected by a specific ray and their respective intersection length.
