ABSTRACT
Concrete is one of the oldest andmostwidely used construction materials. It is comprised mainly of cement, aggregate, water, and admixtures. It was first utilized by Egyptians and then by Romans around 5600 and 2500 B.C. respectively. The hydraulic Portland cement used todaywas first patented by JosephAspdin of Leeds in 1824 and was named Portland cement because of it resembles Portland stone found inDorset, England.
