Colitis cystica profunda is a rare benign disease. A 60-year-old male visited our hospital for a periodic check-up.
Barium enema study and colonoscopy showed a sessile polypoid lesion of 4mm in diameter of the sigmoid colon (about 50cm from the anus) . The lesion was accompanied by a irregular shaped erosion on the top. This seems to be the malignant potential, we carried out endoscopic mucosal resection. The histological examination revealed cilitis cystica profunda (CCP) . Configuration such as our case is uncommon in the previously reported finding of CCP.
