Unusual observation of chemically induced dynamic electron polarization (CIDEP) in systems containing the propan-2-olyl radical: Involvement of a metastable product

Abstract

Enhanced absorptive CIDEP signals in some photochemical systems containing propan-2-olyl radicals are shown to result from the secondary photolysis of a metastable product in the reactions. On the basis of the known chemistry of the species and the reported CIDEP observations, the metastable product is proposed to be the enol form of the acetone.
