Abstract
In a number of electrochemical systems the electrode is covered with a film in which electron transport occurs via hopping between localized states. A model for electron transfer reactions at such films is proposed and investigated by computer simulations. Tafel plots for the calculated current‐potential characteristics give curved lines, the apparent transfer coefficients become smaller with increasing overpotential. The relation of our results to experimental data is discussed.
