Abstract

Si(111) surfaces obtained by electrochemical anodization and posttreatment are investigated by high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). The vibrational spectra show that the surface structure and termination of the Si(111) surface crucially depend on the concentration of , , and F species in solution. Silicon electrodes exhibiting minimal dark current density are most perfectly H‐terminated.
