  • Look Inside

We intraoperatively observed the positioning of intraocular lens (IOL) in 24 eyes using an endoscope. The IOL was located in the anterior part of the ciliary body in 14 eyes, in the middle part in 7 and in the posterior part in 3. The number, thickness and color of the ciliary body were variable. There was no correlation between the shape of the ciliary body and the positioning of IOL. By comparing the state of refraction 1 day and 3 months after surgery, there was a greater shift towards myopia in eyes with anteriorly fixated IOL than in those with posteriorly fixated IOL. A more standardized IOL fixating in the ciliary body promises to decrease the postoperative change of refraction.
