Abstract
The growth conditions of SiO2 and FeO grains have been elucidated by using a molybdenum silicide heater to evaporate SiO and Fe powders separately in a gas mixture of Ar and O2. Crystalline grains of β-cristobalite were produced above 650 Pa of oxygen partial pressure. FeO grains were produced at about 650 Pa of oxygen partial pressure. These grains were produced by the oxidation of SiO and Fe grains in the gas mixture.
