Six members quit US presidential AIDS council as Trump “simply does not care”

Six of the 21 members of the US Presidential Advisory Council on HIV and AIDS (PACHA) have resigned, saying that their advice has been ignored by an administration uninterested in the wellbeing of people with HIV. Three of the six are doctors.

Speaking out on behalf of the six members in Newsweek,1 Scott Schoettes, counsel and HIV project director at Lambda Legal, wrote that, “as advocates for people living with HIV, we have dedicated our lives to combating this disease and no longer feel we can do so effectively within the confines of an advisory body to a president who simply does not care.”
