Consultant in histopathology and cytopathology Belfast City Hospital (b 1955; q Queen's University, Belfast, 1979; FRCPath), d 9 November 2002.

Heather trained in the Department of Pathology, Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, and was appointed as a consultant pathologist to the Belfast City Hospital in 1986. She had developed a considerable experience in diagnostic histopathology and non-gynaecological cytopathology, including interpretation of fine needle aspirate samples, that will be hard to replace. She leaves a husband, Terry, and two children.
