We accept that the references1–5 cited by Tan in his correspondence letter had previously reported visual experiences of patients undergoing cataract surgery.

In our manuscript,6 apart from depicting the actual perception of the subject, we were particularly interested in identifying the possible mechanism(s) giving rise to colour visual experiences in patients undergoing cataract surgery.
