Application of asymptotic methods in the theory of open resonators

Abstract

The problem of the eigenmodes of a 2D open resonator is solved. Two polarizations are considered. Eigenmodes in resonators with various mirror shapes are investigated. The results of a rigorous approach are compared to the results obtained with the help of various approximate asymptotic techniques.
