Abstract

This article describes the consequences of one of the strongest earthquakes in ancient times, traces of which have been preserved in the walls of the fortified estate of the chora of Tauric Chersonesos above the Belbek River. Based on archaeological data, it is possible to date the earthquake to the third quarter of the 3rd century BC. The epicentral area of the earthquake was located to the west-northwest of the estate in the West Crimean seismogenic zone. The intensity was Il = VIII–IX on the MSK-64 scale.
