Abstract

The leech Archaeobdella esmonti Grimm, a representative of the Caspian fauna, was found for the first time in the Rybinsk Reservoir in June 2009. Its maximum abundance was recorded on the biotope of gray silts with shell rock (depth of 14 m). The size and mass characteristics of A. esmonti in the Rybinsk Reservoir varied in a wide range depending on the season of observations. The maximum sizes of individuals exceeded those recorded in mesohalinic waterbodies.
