Abstract

Lichenoindication studies that were carried out in the islands of the Peter the Great Gulf in different years, revealed evidence for anthropogenic influences upon insular natural complexes. The northern islands with permanent settlements are experiencing the greatest influence. The southern islands that are situated in the Marine Reserve, are undergoing a less severe anthropogenic load; nevertheless, there are also taking place a reduction in lichen species diversity and a decrease in the occurrence of species of natural habitats combined with an increased occurrence of lichens across anthropogenically modified territories. The dynamics of the state of lichen cover in the islands being studied has been analyzed to show a consistent tendency for an enhancement in anthropogenic impact over the last several decades.
