Reaction of 4-hydroxycoumarin with 2-acetyloxiranes

Abstract

The reaction of 4-hydroxycoumarin with 2-acetyloxiranes in dimethylformamide in the presence of triethylamine gave 2,3-dihydro-4H-furo[3,2-c]chromen-4-ones which were converted into 4H-furo[3,2-c]-chromen-4-one derivatives as a result of dehydration or fragmentation.
