Abstract

The hypothesis of subsurface subaquamarine runoff as a cause of formation of gas-hydrate accumulations on the continental slope and the shelf of continents and large islands is discussed. According to this hypothesis, large natural accumulations of hydrocarbons are a product of circulation of mobile carbon of the biosphere through land surface with the participation of waters of climatic cycle.
