Abstract

The theories of Lee et al. and Lifshitz–Slezov–Wagner were considered for digestive ripening, which is a relatively new method of regulating the size distribution function of nanoparticles consisting in dissolution of large nanoparticles and formation of small ones in contrast to Ostwald ripening. It was shown that these theories did not give a reasonable explanation of this phenomenon. The process mechanism was substantiated based on taking into account the dependence of the critical radius of the nanoparticle on the concentration of monomer units and the size of the ligand layer.
