On the crack pattern formation in a freely drying protein film

Abstract

As shown for the first time by Rapis [7, 8], cracks appearing on the surface of an aqueous protein solution upon its dehydration under normal conditions usually form the same pattern. In this work, a model of processes responsible for the formation of this pattern is proposed.
