Gel-Forming Compounds on the Basis of Derivatives of (Co)Polymers of N-Vinyl Succinimide and Poly(Vinyl Alcohol) as Biofunctional Sorbents

Abstract

A polymeric compound of poly(N-vinyl succinamic acid) and poly(vinyl alcohol) is obtained by conducting the polymerization of N-vinyl succinimide and reactions in the chains of its polymer in the presence of poly(vinyl alcohol). The possibility for the intermolecular acetalization and structuring of the (co)polymers of vinyl alcohol containing ionic units of N-vinyl succinamic acid with the use of glutaric aldehyde is determined. The swelling and moisture absorption of the structured (co)polymers and their ability to sorb low-molecular-weight biologically active substances with their prolonged release is studied.
