Tectonics of the Cenozoic Nizhnii Bikin coaliferous Depression in the northern Primorye region

Russian Journal of Pacific Geology Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

The Nizhnii Bikin Depression located in the northern Primorye region is filled with Eocene-CLower Oligocene terrigenous continental coaliferous sediments up to 1500 m thick. The depression resulted from synshear extension during dextral movement along the Alchan Fault (Mishan-CFushun in northeastern China) of the Tan Lu system. The change of the sinistral movement along this fault system dominant in the Cretaceous for the dextral one in the Cenozoic was evidently related to the Indo-Eurasian collision.
