Effective viscosity of mineralized water flowing in a porous medium: theory and experiment

Abstract

A percolation model is suggested for the electrokinetic flow of a binary electrolyte solution in a porous medium. The effects of the ion concentration in the solution, the zeta potential of the surface of the pore space, and the shape of the porosimetric curve on the filtration flow velocity are analyzed. Experiments have been designed and carried out to verify the model. The results of theoretical calculations are compared with experimental data.
