Abstract

The emmelichthyid fish Erythrocles microceps, first found in the waters of Vietnam and in the South China Sea, is described. Previously, this species was considered as an endemic of the Pacific coast of Japan (Tosa Bay and Kyushu-Palau Ridge). This is the first finding of members of the family Emmelichthyidae in Vietnam. The details of distribution of this species are discussed.
