Reflection hologram M + A on color centers in CaF2:Na crystal as a luminescent 1D photonic crystal

Abstract

The spatial distribution of luminescence of the M + A color centers in a CaF2:Na crystal with a reflection holographic grating recorded in it has been investigated. The grating doubled period coincides with the luminescence band peak wavelength. It is found that the light propagation direction perpendicular to the hologram plane is forbidden for this wavelength. This fact indicates that this system is a 1D photonic crystal, which has a gap in the band spectrum at any parameters.
