Abstract
The absorption and luminescence spectra of neodymium in a binary inorganic solvent—phosphorus oxychloride-antimony pentachloride—are measured. The spectra are analyzed in terms of the Judd-Ofelt theory. The Judd-Ofelt parameters Ωλ, the oscillator strengths of the main absorption bands, the spontaneous emission probabilities, the radiative lifetime, the luminescence quantum yields, and the stimulated emission cross sections for the 4 F 3/2 → 4 I 11/2 laser transition are calculated.
