Explanatory notes to the Stratigraphic Table of Germany Compact 2012

Abstract
The Stratigraphic Table of Germany Compact 2012 (STDK 2012) is based on the Stratigraphic Table of Germany 2002 (STD 2002). For the new table, selected stratigraphic units of Central Europe (Regional Stratigraphic Scale, RSS) have been extremely condensed and combined with the Global Stratigraphic Scale (GSS). New for the STDK 2012 are mainly groups in the Cretaceous and Jurassic, a modified time scale from the Neoproterozoic to the Ordovician, and some markers, mostly biostratigraphic, defining the Global Stratotype Section and Points (GSSPs). Occurrences of selected natural resource deposits, reservoirs and fossils are displayed on the table and a separate list, with some brief explanations. We are very grateful to all people who contributed basic data and/or essential information to the STDK 2012 and/or to this publication.
Kurzfassung
Die Stratigraphische Tabelle von Deutschland Kompakt 2012 (STDK 2012) basiert auf der Stratigraphischen Tabelle von Deutschland 2002 (STD 2002). In der Tabelle sind ausgewählte stratigraphische Einheiten Mitteleuropas (Regionale Stratigraphische Skala, RSS) hoch verdichtet und mit der Globalen Stratigraphischen Skala (GSS) kombiniert. Neu gegenüber der STD 2002 sind vor allem Gruppen in der Kreide und im Jura, eine modifizierte Zeitskala vom Neoproterozoikum bis zum Ordovizium und einige, zumeist biostratigraphische Marken, mit denen Globale Stratigraphische Profile und Punkte (GSSP) definiert sind. Ausgewählte Bodenschätze, Rohstoffvorkommen, Speicher und Fossilien sind in der Tabelle dargestellt, in einer Liste dokumentiert und z. T. kurz erläutert. Sehr herzlich gedankt wird den vielen Dutzend Personen, die elementare Daten und/oder essenzielle Beiträge zu der STDK 2012 und/oder zu dieser Publikation beigesteuert haben.
