Abstract

New lobsters are reported from the Lower Cretaceous (Albian) of Haida Gwaii Archipelago (formerly Queen Charlotte Islands), British Columbia, Canada. The Erymidae Van Straelen, 1925 includes Palaeastacus haidaensis Garassino, Pasini & Nyborg n. sp. (Eryminae Van Straelen, 1925) that formally represents the first report of this genus in North America. Moreover, one loose chela has been assigned to Stenodactylina sp., representing the oldest report of this genus in Canada. In addition, we report Homarus fami Garassino, Pasini & Nyborg n. sp. (Nephropidae Dana, 1852) which represents the first confirmed record of the genus from the Lower Cretaceous of North America, enlarging the palaeogeographic distribution of the genus out of Europe. Finally, the Mecochiridae Van Straelen, 1925 includes Mecochirus tuberculatus Garassino, Pasini & Nyborg n. sp. that represents the first report of this genus in North America.
