Abstract

The homochirality of life, which is related to the origin of life, is still unsolved. For explaining the origin, three candidates, such as the Earth’s rotational motion (the Coriolis force), circularly polarized light-induced asymmetric photochemical reactions, and asymmetric photochemical reactions under a magnetic field, have been proposed. In this paper, recent studies on both the magneto-chiral dichroism and the relationship between molecular chirality and vortex motions are introduced in terms of chemical approaches to the origin of homochirality of life.
