The thesis of this book is that conventional management techniques are not viable for interactive projects. The authors seek to remedy this by providing a practical guide to planning, organization, estimation, staffing, as well as the management of any iterative project from its initiation to its conclusion.

We are all aware that iterative processes are now widely used and have a great many advantages, not least of which is the great assistance they give to software developers to cut costs and to produce the final version on time.

This book has already received praise from reviewers because they believe it includes “easily understood techniques that can be used with iterative methodologies ranging from Rational Unified Process to Extreme Programming and to the Microsoft Solutions Framework.”

The authors have aimed at presenting proven approaches which they believe will fulfill the needs of, not only the software developer but also managers and their organizations.
