Abstract

THE history of lubrication practice for heavy duty open gear drives has seen little progress to the present day in this country since the early days of throwing handfuls of a bitumastic compound on to the gear teeth at infrequent intervals, or when the requirement was made quite obvious by the increasing mechanical noise.
