Abstract

Equipment, Programmes, Techniques and Projects. Rolls‐Royce Conway by‐pass jets which power the Boeing 707 airliners of B.O.A.C. have been approved to operate for 4,000 hours between overhauls without any intermediate inspection whatsoever. This figure has been reached after only 3½ years in service with B.O.A.C. Further increases in the time between overhauls are expected and selected engines are being trial run to 4,200 hours. Engine reliability has been very satisfactory.
