Macintosh Workstations
Abstract
MACINTOSH PORTABLE AND IIci. With fanfare more appropriate to a film epic, Apple announced its latest Macintosh models—the Macintosh Portable and the Macintosh IIci—last month in a media blitz from the stage of the Universal Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif. In the works for four years, the Macintosh Portable was clearly the CPU in the spotlight given its long‐standing anticipation in the marketplace. Overlooked but not underestimated the Macintosh IIci, the latest product in Apple's modular product line, brings true workstation performance to the Macintosh family. Will these new computers find a place in libraries? Let's examine them to see how they might fit into a library's automation scheme.
