MCP Equipment has moved to improve the replication of plastic prototypes and end-products by vacuum casting.

Following an agreement with Vantico (formerly CIBA), Stone-based MCP has become exclusive distributor for Ureol range of vacuum-casting resins.

The nine-resin Ureol series now joins MCP's own established range, enabling the company to provide nearly 30 different casting materials for matching vacuum-cast replicas to end-products.

According to MCP, with the expanded range vacuum castings can reproduce the characteristics, looks, feel and colours of endproducts very closely indeed. A wide variety of hardnesses, strengths, flexibilities, tactilities, resistances and colourations can be conferred on vacuum castings with the resins now available.

In particular, glass-filled resin 5237 is said to be ideal for high temperature application (up to 125°C), while 5233 provides castings simulating polypropylene for high impact resistance.
