Abstract

The polarized Raman spectra of HoMn2O5 and TbMn2O5 are reported and discussed. Most of the Raman lines corresponding to Γ-point Raman modes (13Ag+13B1g+11B2g+11B3g) have been observed. The temperature dependence of the HoMn2O5 spectra provides no evidence for phonon anomalies associated with magnetic and ferroelectric transitions below 50K.
