Abstract

A new isomer has been established in Po212 which decays by α as well as γ-ray emission and probably has spin and parity 8+. It may consist of a superposition of the [(πh922)0+×(νg922)8+]8+ and [(πh922)8+(νg922)0+]8+ configurations. From this result conclusions have been drawn about the configuration of the previously known high-spin isomer in Po212 of spin and parity 16+ or 18+.
