Abstract

Mass relationships are used to compute the energy of quartet excited states in N=Z even-even nuclei for C12 up to Fe52. The states obtained are quasibound up to excitation energies of about 40 MeV and could account for the narrow structures recently observed in heavy-ion transfer experiments.
