Abstract

The decay KL0π+ππ0 has been studied in an experiment using the Argonne 12-ft hydrogen bubble chamber exposed to a KL0 beam of momentum 550 ± 35 MeV/c. After radiative corrections to the data, a fit using a matrix element of the form |M|21+g(s3s0)mπ+2+h[(s3  s0)mπ+2]2 + k[(s1  s2)mπ+2]2 gives g = 0.681±0.24, h = 0.095±0.032, and k = 0.024±0.010. The branching ratio Γ(KL0π+ππ0)Γ(KL0charged) was measured to be 0.163 ± 0.003. These results, when compared to those obtained in other KL0 and K± decay experiments, indicate a substantial Δ>12 contribution to the KL0 decay amplitude.
