Abstract
A momentum-dependent potential is developed to generate nuclear single-particle spectra in agreement with experiment. The parameters of the model are obtained by fitting to experimental data on nuclides with masses greater than 160. The heavy-element neutron single-particle spectrum is compared with the spectrum generated from a Woods-Saxon potential. The potential is applied to the problem of computing the single-particle spectra of nuclides in the mass-300 region.
