Abstract
The magnetoelectric spectrum of a two-dimensional electron gas partially constrained to a channel by adjustable split-gate potentials and subject to a normal magnetic field confined to the channel region is solved analytically for a particular choice of the electromagnetic fields. Several physical results are discussed, particularly a transistor effect that results from the asymmetry of the Hall conductance.
