R0(0) transition in the absorption spectrum of solid hydrogen deuteride (HD)

Abstract

The R0(0) transition in solid hydrogen deuteride at 14 K has been observed in the absorption spectrum. The integrated intensity was found to be consistent with a recent theoretical calculation by Tipping and Poll and in good agreement with an independent experimental determination by McKellar and Clouter. Although the resolution of the spectrometer used in our measurement was not high enough for an accurate determination of the line profile, the line was found to be slightly asymmetric with a full width at half maximum smaller than 0.4 cm1.
