Abstract

We demonstrate theoretically and experimentally that under suitable conditions high-Q microspheres can exhibit anomalous dispersion, which permits phase and energy matching for nonlinear optical interactions. We use such dispersion control to produce either Raman or four-wave mixing parametric oscillations by changing the size of the microsphere.
