Abstract

We report integral and differential cross sections for elastic scattering of electrons by XH4 (X=C,Si,Ge,Sn,Pb) molecules for energies between 3 and 10 eV. We use the Schwinger multichannel method with pseudopotentials [Bettega et al., Phys. Rev. A 47, 1111 (1993)] at the static-exchange and static-exchange plus polarization approximations. We compare our results with available theoretical and experimental results and find very good agreement. In particular, our results show Ramsauer-Towsend minima for all XH4 molecules.
