Abstract
We directly fit the experimentally measured energy dependence of the average value of , , over the center-of-mass energy range to the quantum chromodynamics expectation obtained by integrating up the evolution equation for in terms of . We fit for , uncalculated and higher perturbative corrections parametrized by the scheme invariant , and the parameter which characterizes the magnitude of the leading power corrections. We find , which is equivalent to . In this approach, there is no error associated with the choice of the renormalization scale .
