Abstract

The model of Fukuyama and Lee for the pinning of the charge-density-wave phase by impurities is investigated. The current-current correlation function, related to the force-force correlation function by the equation of motion, is calculated to fourth order in the impurity concentration n0. It is found that the threshold electric field is proportional to n02, and above threshold, the resulting current is periodic in time, exhibiting many harmonics.
