Baryon-antibaryon final-state interactions and multiperipheral threshold effects

Abstract

We investigate baryon-antibaryon contributions to the pp total cross section, using simple models. We find that the BB¯ threshold is lower than needed to explain the rise in σpp, if final-state interactions are important.
